Polish tram drivers show their skills
Warsaw has hosted Poland's National Tram Driver Championships, with as 12 teams from across the country showcasing their skills in a series of creative challenges.
The event featured 10 different competitions that tested drivers' precision and control of the massive vehicles.
One of the contests involved drivers using trams to knock down bowling pins, while another required them to navigate close to cardboard figures without touching them. Participants were also tested on precise stopping and assisting a person with a disability.
"In all of them, precision, cooperation, and skill in operating these machines, trams which weigh 40-50 tonnes, count," explained Witold Urbanowicz of Warsaw Trams.
The winner of the Warsaw championships would receive an invitation to participate in the World Tram Driver Championships in Vienna this autumn.
