In a rare sighting, a disoriented adult dolphin was spotted swimming between Putney Bridge and Wandsworth Park along the Thames River in London.

Mary Tester, an expert from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue, expressed concern over the unusual presence of the dolphin so far upriver, indicating potential distress.

"It looks very disorientated and pretty lethargic, so it's potentially swam up the river, maybe gotten lost and doesn't have the energy to swim back where it needs to go," she said.

This year alone, at least five dolphins pods have ventured beyond the estuary into the Thames, but the three that made the journey into central London didn't survive, said Tester.
