Endangered tiger cubs born at Nashville Zoo
A trio of endangered Sumatran tiger cubs were born at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere.
The cubs were born on October 20 and these are the first Sumatran tigers to be born at Nashville Zoo.
Anne, the 7-year-old Sumatran tiger, is a first time mother and zoo officials said in a release that mom and the cubs – two girls and one boy – have been bonding together in an indoor den.
The zoo said that Sumatran tigers are native to Indonesia and are critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. An estimated 400 to 600 Sumatran tigers are left in the wild.
The zoo's veterinarians gave the cubs a quick weigh-in and health check on Thursday.
