Megafactories: Ford

Henry Ford personally is said to have chosen the location of the Ford factory in Cologne, Germany. Today more than 1000 new cars are assembled there every day.

More than 1200 industrial robots complete the tasks, where once factory workers stood side by side along the assembly line.

Some 18,000 employees keep the facility running, which is like a mini city on the outskirts of Cologne and located directly on the Rhine.

The new cars are exported to more than 60 nations.
